Hello All! I have the Glowforge Pro and want to get a filter. I’m in Canada and unfortunately by the time I pay the tarrifs, shipping and exchange, the Glowforge filter unit for mine will be way too expensive. More than what I originally bought the Glowforge itself for. Anyone using a third party system, or do I keep venting out the window?
There’s a third way too:
You can cut a dryer vent hole. Even if you hire someone to do it, It’ll be cheaper than a filter and have all of the benefits of a window vent without any of the negatives.
If it’s at all possible that’s the route I’d pursue. Filter media is really expensive no matter what vendor you buy it from.
There are also some really good window vent inserts intended for clothes dryers. Not sure if you’re using one now but if not Amazon has many to choose from.
Welcome to the forum.
Venting out the window is superior to the filter in my opinion. You don’t have the expense of replacing filters that can fill quickly and you usually have superior air flow. That being said, I have heard that the filter system for Xtool machines can be used with the Glowforge.
Agree with all above. I’ve always vented mine out the window…created a way to keep it in place all the time with the dryer vent.
