I did some experimenting with acrylic weld solvent and engraves a little ways back. These are on cast clear acrylic.

3D Engraving Textures: Honeycomb

Here’s a couple tile-able texture depth map images for honeycomb patterns. For those that are new to 3D, the black areas will be “carved” the deepest while white is left untouched. If you want the white part of the image to be carved out instead, use an image editor (or Inkscape, Illustrator and Affinity Designer will also do it) to invert the colors. Fun with Texture

Done on medium maple. The diamond knurl tiled pattern is courtesy of @mpipes in ‘Free Laser Designs’. So much fun exploring the capabilities of the glowforge! The diamonds are each 4 sided pyramids that terminate in a point. With the pattern at this scale I couldn’t go quite deep enough to get to the point without penetrating the work, but close enough!
