Some recent 
cherry hardwood I have has very lacking finish. It’s sad. I’m just checking to see if they’re making it poorer on purpose. Recent thick maple plywood had finish issues too, inconsistent with cherry and walnut.

Well, I guess it’s on purpose, then. Dang.
No reply from anyone yet? Interesting. Can you post some pictures of the material you received along side of some that you had gotten before with a better finish. I haven’t bought it in a while and have no reference. But there have been times when folks have posted sub standard finish on materials.
