Cleaning exhause fan

First time doing a deep clean. Following instructions for exhaust fan. GF recommends using 3M electronic degreaser. I have a spray can of electronic cleaner, is that ok to use instead if I follow up with compressed air to dry it out. Everything posted is old. Is there anything newly posted in 2024 on deep cleaning the GF, and in particular the 2 fans.

I would not substitute any cleaner for what Glowforge recommends. That being said, I don’t follow the instructions for exhaust cleaning that includes any cleaner and fast fan speed. I clean the exhaust fan with straw brushes and patience.

Ditto. “Deep Clean” is always the words that precede “and now it’s not working” around these parts!

This is how I cleaned my fan before I eventually removed it entirely.

The degreaser method requires taking your laser outside and that’s not in the cards for me!

I followed their instructions many years ago and shorted out something and had to get a refurb machine.

Not quite a running joke as it would be mean, but might be in other circumstances.

Thank you - I’ll start with that.

Thank you - I’ve read so many negative things with this deep clean process.
