Cleaning the inside of the Glowforge

I’ve read the manual about cleaning the inside of the glowforge. Zeiss wipes, and maybe a lint free cloth that has been lightly sprayed with alcohol. Anyone think that using a swiffer duster inside the unit is a bad idea? I was just wondering. Thanks.

Well, swiffers are not lint-free and will leave stuff all over the sharp edges, but I doubt it will do much harm. A paper towel with alcohol or SprayWay (window cleaner) on it is all I ever used besides the wipes for optics.

The wipes are just small lint-free patches with alcohol anyway…

I use SprayWay and Dawn with paper towels, Dawn on the tougher greasy soot (machine off and don’t use until completely dry). Swiffers can pick up some of the dust, aren’t great on corners, as they leave lots of lint debris that can show up with the fan blows.

I would not us anything but Zeiss wipes on lenses as it is made to never scratch. The rest, a paper towel only damp with alcohol hand sanitizer. I cannot see where a duster would help.

Pretty sure at this point the aggregated MDF on the inside of the door on the front is going to need my milling machine to remove off the aluminum. That stuff has turned to some sort of fuzzy polymerized concrete…
