Computer glasses box

Wanted to try out the parametric hinged box template in Cuttle, so I made a box for my Computer glasses out of light cherry ply…

I like working with light PG ply, except for one thing – since it has a wood core instead of MDF, it warps like crazy (at least here in Colorado – YMMV, of course).

A ̶p̶l̶a̶c̶e̶ box for everything and everything in it’s ̶p̶l̶a̶c̶e̶ box!

My light proofgrade came warped. Keeping it under stacks of heavy materials didn’t help. Needed tons of hold down pins, then glue and clamps to get it to work Even then, I wasn’t totally satisfied with its bowed appearance.

My first order was flat and remained so when stored flat, but this recent order? Not so much. Sigh.

My first oder was actually when they first released it. I ordered one of each, and I think it was only the cherry that was warped.

I have had luck flattening boards with a flat board and weights on top when they are sprayed with alcohol first. Allows the grain to stretch (or some other physics thang).
