Hi guys, new to Glowforge & hit a snag. I have learnt how to create a cake topper with font, like Happy Birthday, but I want to make a topper that has an outline…I’m making a topper for my nephew & he loves trucks so I want the outline of a truck with a rectangle as the stick for the topper but I can’t combine them. When I go to Glowforge to create it says the the linked images have been removed. This is the image I’m trying to create the topper for & add the stick. I’m using Adobe Illustrator but if you guys know of any other software that is better/easier I’d be happy to try. Hopefully someone can help as I’ve looked everywhere to find instructions that can help
Welcome to the forum.
Adobe Illustrator is an extremely versatile product which is equal to or better than its competitors’ product. The linked images message might mean that you saved your project without the embedded images. You did not share an image. Can you try again to share the image you need us to see to help you?
oops, ,my bad. uploaded the image. I just want the outline of this topper image & then to add the rectangle for the stick
I do save as gsv. I’ll double check my settings. thanks
Glowforge doesnt have the cut out option as it says it wont cut bitmap. I think I’ve done something wrong when creating the image in illustrator.
You need vector paths to cut or score elements in a design. Bitmaps (rasters) can only be engraved. You can create an outline to cut around images with the outline tool in the Glowforge interface if you have the premium tools.
thank you for the info
In illustrator, you would use the object /path/offset path tool to create an outline for the illustration/text.
