Cut and engrave on wood clipboards

I am trying to cut and engrave on a teacher’s clipboard for a gift, but not sure what settings I will need to engrave and cut out the design.

You will need to test to come up with settings that work for your specific material. Fortunately, there are already dozens of threads on how to test unknown materials, and an entire section of the support library dedicated to custom settings.

If you don’t want to sacrifice a clipboard for testing, then my suggestion would be to start light and leave it in place; then you can go over it again if it’s not dark /deep enough. That said, learning to test for optimum settings is an invaluable skill when you have a laser. #6 in this post will lead you to the test method I like best:

There’s a lot of other good stuff in there, too.
