Does anyone have a suggestion for de-papering nightlight inserts? I’ve made one for my grandson but it has a bazillion tiny almost microscopic pieces to be removed. I’m making several for grandkids and I don’t have time for that. I even tried removing the mask prior to printing but there’s a cloudy haze left from the scorch. This is one of Honeybri’s, if that makes a difference.
My go to is gorilla tape. I have also used the plastic razor blades after soaking the project in soapy water.
That soapy water is one I’ve never come across before. Thanks.
I second the soapy water, I often use Dawn detergent, let the pieces sit in the water for a few minutes, then use the plastic razor blade to get the masking off. I have found that it also is easier to clean up and char that remains.
When doing complex engraves where most of the masking will be removed anyway. I make sure the material is held tightly, set the engrave to ignore, and do the final cut. Then I remove all the masking, make the cut on ignore, and the engrave on go and without making any changes in location, go with the engrave.
You might want to wash it after, but what is engraved will collect just as much crud, and with a variable engrave the finest details will not just engrave the top of the paper.
Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you, @rbtdanforth. I’ve been “under the weather,” as they say, but believe me, the weather had nothing to do it. I just tried your suggestion and about 95% of the burn was removed. I even tried Dawn with no further improvement. These are all three excellent suggestions and major time savers. I think I can close this thread as “solved.” Thanks all.
Thanks for the follow up. I hope you are on the road to improved health.
