Im a 70 male, totally new to designing. I got a GF Pro what design app. or progam that i can use with mine. Yes i have trouble even printing. I wish someone near Cassadaga ny could show me on how to use my machine and apps i dont have yet thanks for some information.
That depends on how much “designing” you plan to do.
Many people get by with basic layout capabilities of the user interface from GF, although you have to pay for many of the “features”.
Many use one of the major design applications locally on their computer - Inkscape (free), Adobe Illustrator, Cuttle, etc.
I personally prefer Inkscape. I design there, save as an SVG file which I then import into the GF UI to select material, print settings, and lay out the design where necessary.
You can get some practice by using some Glowforge files or other purchased files for the things you hope to design. Inkscape is a free design program that many use which is powerful enough for any design professional.
What types of things do you want toi make?
Not totally sure because not know how and my GF premium trial runs out tomorrow
If you browse this forum there are a lot of freebies people have dropped over the years. You might find something you’d like to try.
I would also look at boxes py and box maker. They will give you some ideas plus a great starting place when you are making a custom sized enclosure or box.
GM, I down loaded inkscape however I don’t think I’ll be able to use it unless I buy the premium package to use the machine properly, if I don’t buy it GF takes away use of alot of the tools, so downloading IS alone doesn’t mean i can use it with GF.
Inkscape includes all of the tools available through the subscription and is a complete design program. What, exactly, do you think is limited without the premium subscription?
Many people do not have a premium subscription and do everything needed with their machine. (Also, many people do not make their own designs and just purchase them from various places, but it really depends on what you are planning to use your machine to make. I make my own files and for me, Adobe Illustrator was much easier for me to learn than Inkscape for whatever reason, maybe simply because I think I used it a long time ago and Inkscape just felt foreign to me.)
