Anyone got any ideas about what i might be doing to create these dark marks on the etched portions of black anodized aluminum? Settings are speed 350, full power and 350 lines per inch. Working on an aircraft data plate - would be great to just have empty boxes there with no discoloration. I’ll try different power settings next - just curious if anyone has solved already.
It could be the metal discolouring due to overheating, or anodizing reattaching while it’s hot. First thing I’d try is cleaning with alcohol. If it comes off it’s likely the latter.
If not, I’d try adjusting your settings and run more boxes on this piece to see if raising your speed lessens it.
Looks like the line per inch needs to increase. Leaving lines that are not cut .
If it were uncut, it would be a solid line, not a shadow - but that’s definitely worth testing if the other things don’t work!
Final version. This airplane was grounded for not having a data plate that wasn’t required when it was manufactured. Got it back in the air quickly. Thanks for all of your help!
So what was the solution? That looks fabulous!
I went slower. Full power and about 250. It still has some streaks but they weren’t as picky as I am. In this situation perfect was the enemy of done. I had it done about 48 hours after I got all the specs and most of that was due to family distractions. So I felt pretty good about it. Thanks for all of the help.
