Excellent news, I appreciate the “countdown” of shipments. I will, like most people on here, now obsessively check the announcements even more often to see how close my spot in line is.

As a day 3 orderer that received the “do you want it” email on the 16th, I’ve been excitedly waiting for the next, “hey, it is shipping” email. Today I got a “your box of wood n’ stuff arrives tomorrow” email, and even better, an early monthly update! Having access to the design catalog makes the wait easier and more difficult for that last desired email, but at least I know that I’ll get a real laser this year!

I am a tad grumpy about the design license pricing difference, but also can see where it is coming from, and I know it could have been a much heftier increase for the “own it forever” license. But it also sucks that it is limited to “burn and give away only”. I can understand not wanting to fill up the market with all the same designs, but still…

Either way, great work, keep up that adaptive process that you’ve got going, and glad to hear about each new development!

@dan Any progress on securing the Catan board licensing? I believe you mentioned something about trying to land that for us a few months back in a previous update.

Finally, once (and if) we’re eventually able to upload our designs to the catalog, is the presumption that they must be free and public domain, or will the catalog become a market where we can set prices and earn some minimal “Glowforge cost offsetting income” off of our work?

Does NEW Glowforge Grant Program apply to international customer? We expect to have some sort of maker fair event in Oct - Nov time frame.

So will you be providing a license price for the ability to sell items produced from catalog designs? Useful for everyone who is looking to pay for their GF…

Also, when the catalog is opened up how much flexibility will users have to set the structure of pricing and the prices themselves?

Thanks.

Given that you are now shipping both versions of GF, can you say when the promised firmware will be open sourced.

I am really interested to see what others produce…

You’re welcome to apply, but we likely won’t choose any applicants until we start shipments to their country.

Two Pro units that arrived in the same shipment got dubbed “Watt is Love” and “Don’t Hertz Me”.

As someone who is interested in eventually selling laser made things, I’d love to hear any additional detail @dan and team could add as to what they used for pricing the designs in the catalog. Is it based on the size of the project, the number of steps, the number of pieces, what just felt right, a little bit of all of the above?

Aside from that, I love the detail that has gone into the catalog, the detailed instructions, the techniques needed, the skill level. Heading in the right direction.

Just noticed something, I would like to add a suggestion for an improvement, I’d like deisgns I own to show up as owned in the catalog top level UI. Clicking into the design shows I own it, but from the top it looks like it still needs to be purchased, suggest something like this
