You might find something like this easier to tackle without having to put too much thought into it - pick up a basic frame and do an inset with her sayings:

I have a friend whose daughter is moving out of state, He saw the laser engraving work I was doing with the glowforge. And wanted to make a gift with the saying they always say To each other. So he sent me an email with the text he wanted and from there I took over and designed up a little sign for them. [image0] [image1] [image2]

This is something simple, but sometime simple is fun, and can get your message across.
