Oh my goodness- you are my lifesaver!!! Thank you a million times over for your help! Slowing down the speed to 100 was the answer!! I had gone lower before, but not that far I guess!! Thank you so much- one happy girl here today
Be careful - a speed of 100 is too slow for most wood and could be a fire hazard. Please use Proofgrade settings and adjust slightly as needed. This article may help you: https://support.glowforge.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033633574-Working-With-Manual-Mode
Glad it worked but as stated in-between, 100 is way too slow for 1/8 MDF.
Always start with the proofgrade settings for a material close to what you have, and if they “don’t quite” work, change the power or speed by small amounts. When I am testing different materials, I have a design with a set of shapes that I can put several different settings in either side of the one I suspect will work, and often find there is one that produces the best result. Sometimes I’ll repeat using that as the “middle” setting and then run it again with a “tighter” set of different settings on either side of that.
When the result is important, I always run a small test on every single piece of material, proofgrade or not, before committing to a print that will use a significant amount of it. If it’s really important, I do a quick clean of the optics first as well.
Thanks for this! I really truly appreciate any and all tips and helpful suggestions.
Thanks, again! and good to know! I will totally be printing this article- lots of good info!! Thanks so much
