@raymondking inspired me to engrave a case for my new iPhone. I ordered one in rosewood from his source, and then spent a couple of weeks deciding what to put on it. Eventually I ran across a drawing of a poppy on Pinterest that I liked (thank you, unknown artist!), and decided to give it a whirl. I tested on PG cherry before committing, and ended up engraving in several passes so I could darken some of the lighter areas (after erasing out the parts that were already dark enough), and got it to look the way I wanted. Then I flipped it to test on the back of the rosewood, just to be absolutely sure (it comes separate from the body of the case, which is adhesive-backed so you can stick the wood on once it’s lasered.)

Initially I was itching to add some hints of color, but more and more I’m liking it just the way it is.
