Engraving a Clay Pigeon

My Brother-in-law just won a tournament, despite many sleepless nights an no practice for months after his baby was born. I wanted to commemorate this with a funny award.

Has anyone tried engraving a clay pigeon? Any ideas on if it would work? What settings to use? (Clay pigeons are those orange and black things you shoot with a shotgun). I am new to my GF since it arrived only a few days ago, so I need noob level advice…

I’d be careful with this. At least a normal run of the mill clay. The limestone is fine but they are also made of petroleum pitch, unless you get into the biodegradable targets.

Also check the thickness on the pigeons - I’ve handled a bunch of them and IIRC they might be too thick to process on the tray. You have a 1/2" thickness limit on the tray use.

(You’d likely have to take the tray out and use a prop of some sort. If you haven’t read the tutorial on how to do that, you need to before attempting it.)
