Why is my glowforge skipping during an engrave? I have tightened the carriage belt as much as it will let me and it still seems loose. Should I unscrew it from the carriage plate and make the belt shorter?

A picture of what you are seeing would be very helpful in determining what problem you may be having.
Do not make your belt shorter, and do not start tightening and loosening screws just yet.
