Engraving on fir

does anyone have settings for engraving on fir? I am not finding anything out there to tell me paramaters. Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the community. I did a search here in the forum and didnā€™t really find anything specific to ā€˜firā€™ either. As with most non-proofgrade materials, doing some tests will bring you the best results. Use some scraps if you have any, so not to waste anything. Start out by using the drop down menuā€¦for instance try using ā€œmapleā€. See if you need to change those settings to get the result you like best.

There are a number of tools on the forum just for this. I used the term ā€œtest engraveā€ to see what came up. This one looks promising. If it doesnā€™t meet your needs, just try the others below it. Have fun and let us know how it comes out.

Fir is near the bottom of the hardness scale, similar to pine or basswood, so it will not take much to cut. Itā€™s also likely to char.
