As most makers know you rapidly can accumulate a divorce inducing level of toys in the maker space. And while the large number of printers, milling machine, etc didn’t bother my wife, the mess of supplies certainly did. And the biggest offender was spools of filament, an ungodly amount of filament. That had rapidly exceeded the shelf they sat on and were now in piles, so when Robert Crowan posted his video on his solution to filament storage with a modular system I thought, that was an excellent…

Figured I’d show what those labels look like (The entire set isn’t done, as my wife suggested I build a set of regular storage drawers in the middle):

Other than the new drawer request, the Durablack laser blanks really make a nice addition, matching the sort of matte/sating finish of the black ASA. I’m still plus/minus on the orange frame for the hygrometer, but that’s a simple switch.

For those curious no the top drawer fronts are not a separate color, they were from the same plywood sheet, but for some reason on this photo they look different. All 4 are a hand-rubbed orange oil/waxed finish. The slight unevenness of the drawer fronts, is because I have not replaced the metal grid shelf underneath with plywood yet. which is shockingly uneven when not heavily loaded (great, it can take hundreds of pounds but without it being squished it tends to flex itself)

It’s amazing what a ~slight~ change in lighting can do to a finished wood surface. It’s one of the reasons I’m so hesitant to buy anything wood online!

On the orange - is anything else in that workshop orange?

Very nice! My storage has bins with gasket lids, on a cheap wire shelf. There are only a couple of tubs not shown.
