Hi everyone, I would like to share four patterns that I made for the Gift Exchange program of the G4G15 meeting. The gifts should be available online for everyone to download, but it’s not up yet.
If you’ve never heard of a software package called Stella 4d you might want to take a look. It’s purpose built to make folding patterns for projects like these.
You might also love wintercroft. They make paper masks for download.
I heard about stella4d but never played with it. Does it have a Mac version? Honestly the hardest part in these pattern drawings is to decide the location and the shape of the tabs
Thanks! The 4th one takes about 3-4 hours, if I’m lucky. The tricky thing is to glue the last 2-3 pieces neatly. Here is an inside picture of the relaxing first half https://www.instagram.com/p/Cz32Czmrsbn/
When I’m weaving a complex pattern, and the loom has treadles to control the pattern, I chant or sing it to myself until I’m a part of it. I can see this object being the same way (up to a point).
@shiying, FYI I was also curious about running Stella4D on a Mac, so I downloaded Codeweavers Crossover Mac Ver 24.0.1 the 14 day demo which lets you run Windows software on a Mac without installing Windows.
and installed Stella4D Demo
and it does work and seems functional. Disclaimer: It is a demo version and also I am a newbie to Stella4D. Once I learn to use it I will update this post.
