Four geometry paper projects on letter sized paper

Hi everyone, I would like to share four patterns that I made for the Gift Exchange program of the G4G15 meeting. The gifts should be available online for everyone to download, but it’s not up yet.

For the 4th pattern, you will need to make two copies.

Ahh g4g. So cool.

If you’ve never heard of a software package called Stella 4d you might want to take a look. It’s purpose built to make folding patterns for projects like these.

You might also love wintercroft. They make paper masks for download.

Also your second paper creature (some sort of stellated octahedron) looks familiar…

I heard about stella4d but never played with it. Does it have a Mac version? Honestly the hardest part in these pattern drawings is to decide the location and the shape of the tabs

The second one is interesting to me because the net is a loop, I found it quite cute.

I needed to prepare dinner for the family… OK, I googled, and the answer seems to be no.

Mine too! The gluing is tiresome though, especially the last pieces.

Maybe I will take a better picture tomorrow and share in made on Glowforge

Thank you @shiying for sharing. I look forward to trying to make these. They look quite interesting.
Thanks for making me aware of the G4G events.

Your work is so inspiring, thank you for sharing your photos. How long did it take you to do the 4th one?

Someone should create and market tiny clamps for glue joints when fingers just won’t do!

Thanks! The 4th one takes about 3-4 hours, if I’m lucky. The tricky thing is to glue the last 2-3 pieces neatly. Here is an inside picture of the relaxing first half

Mesmerizing…

When I’m weaving a complex pattern, and the loom has treadles to control the pattern, I chant or sing it to myself until I’m a part of it. I can see this object being the same way (up to a point).

Yes, till the last three pieces

@evansd2 Stella4D is windows only.

@shiying, FYI I was also curious about running Stella4D on a Mac, so I downloaded Codeweavers Crossover Mac Ver 24.0.1 the 14 day demo which lets you run Windows software on a Mac without installing Windows.

and installed Stella4D Demo

and it does work and seems functional. Disclaimer: It is a demo version and also I am a newbie to Stella4D. Once I learn to use it I will update this post.
