Just a little share from one old Marine to my little niece who just graduated last Friday. She walked across the parade field 30 years to the day that I graduated from Marine Corps bootcamp. Parade field changed a bit but in the same spot. My gift to her is the keepsake box and to her mom and dad the wood engraved photo. Just tooting my horn with pride for her!
That is a really wonderful gift to both your niece and her parents. Thank you for your service and when you next connect with her, tell her congratulations and that there are many of us out here who are very grateful for youth like her who are willing to serve.
That is a beautiful gift, and will be cherished.
No words can describe how proud I am of my daughter - graduated 68W last year. Although we have several military family members, going thru her training experience really gave us a whole new perspective to, and appreciation of, all those who serve and have served. Attending both graduation ceremonies (BCT and AIT) was a privilege, especially in these times.
Congrats to your niece!
That is a gorgeous box!! I love it!
Did you design the box yourself?
Beautiful work. Congrats to the niece!
Modified a Treasure chest file I purchased. Size and graphics where modified.
Absolutely Love the box and the picture! My dad was a Marine and we were very proud of him.
Absolutely love this! Thank you for your service and for your family and their patriotic lives, this is absolutely gorgeous.
Oh that’s beautifully done! I hope she gets assigned somewhere there will be space for it
Semper Fi! Thank you and your niece for your service, from one old soldier. And of course, now there is Russia…
Oh, and they look great! I want to do some photo engraving like that.
That is absolutely beautiful!
This is absolutely wonderful. You must be so proud.
That is beautiful, I love it!
This is incredible! Well done!
Great gift and the photo tweaked out nice.
If you haven’t played with painted surfaces yet, that photo looks ideal for a starter project.
Take an MDF (plywood should work the same) board and paint it a blue (I liked a darker blue - try some samples), then paint over that with a tan.
Once etched it will have a near flesh tone. Great effect.
@shogun had some amazing results and pushed me into the painted MDF rabbit hole. Sort of found the flesh tone by accident, but went nuts with it doing some ancestor pictures once it proved viable. Here is a link.
Exceptional chest. Love the curved top and engravings.
This sound like a must try! Thanks for the tip and link!
Beautiful gifts! And you should be proud of her! Toot your own horn anytime! Thank her for me for her service, and thank you as well for your service.
Love it!
That is beautiful, I love the details and the sentiment! Thank you for your service and thank her for hers too!
