GF Pencil Jig

What type wood/size do you use to make the GF pencil jig?

Many people make their jigs from cardboard or cheap mdf.

I bought some draft board on sale. Should I use the 1/8 or 1/4"

Jig worked out great! I can’t seem to get the writing on the pencil centered. I used set focus and clicked where I want the writing to go. It moves it. Do I leave it to where it moves it? I dragged it back to where it looks centered and it either goes to high or too low. Any suggestions? I manually set focus to 0.27.

You need to put your text in the jig file - that is how jigs work. You ignore your text and cut the pencil outlines. Insert your pencils and then ignore the cutouts and enable the text.

I would not waste good material on a jig, unless you intend to make thousands.

Cardboard works just as well.

Ok thank you. I think I got it. I have the jig cut out. So I removed the pencil and centered the text within the jigged space. Then inserted the pencil and engraved. Thank you!
