Does anyone know why the glowforge servers seem to NEVER work? It takes literally hours to upload designs that take seconds to cut. I am on a secure, high speed network. No other websites have issues. I cannot make a single print in an 4 hour block of time as it is always processing and then fails. Even when it is working, it will take easily 10 minutes - 2 hours to reset to do the exact same cut it just completed.
I am actively finding people considering buying this and recommending they go with a different company. I never would have thought they could charge so much and offer so little.
@dan84: You are flat out wrong. Go ahead and subscribe to the Glowforge Status notifications and you’ll see how often it happens. And that’s just the ones that are bad enough to cause a Status page update. This issue we’re discussing now, people have been having since yesterday and the status page still shows as everything operational.
Just checked. I am using my phone as a hotspot and uploaded the most complex design I have with almost 30,000 nodes. In 5 seconds. Then I could navigate the interface at will. In fact, it was so fast, I just did it again to check. The upload itself (1.8MB) took 3s, and then “processing” was less than two more.
Glowforge doesn’t own the internet, and their service appears to be working just fine right now..
Then why does it never work? If it is operational, I wouldn’t be on day two of processing a basic design. The service is shotty at best. This is 2 years of me attempting to use the machine, etc. and the same problem occurs everytime I use it. While on the phone with customer service, they also had nothing to add for help. I’m tired of waiting hours to cut an item that takes seconds. You saying that a problem does not exist is neither helpful nor true.
Must be nice to have something working. That doesn’t fix anything. Thanks for talking about how yours works, lets discuss the ones that don’t. There are literally facebook groups dedicated to the disappointment with glowforge.
@david.jung you are correct to be upset and don’t let users on this forum or discord chat gaslight you into thinking there’s nothing wrong. There was something wrong with Glowforge’s backend that lasted for at least 2 days with multiple users, including myself, complaining about it and Glowforge support acknowledging numerous complaints. They failed to update their service status website and so many users jumped through hoops trying to troubleshoot their setup when in the end, it was Glowforge’s backend.
It seems to have no been resolved.
Btw, I wasn’t replying to you when I said “you’re flat out wrong” above. I was replying to another user (dan84) that has since deleted his post so it looks like I was replying to you.
Has GF had server issues that have lasted days? Yes. Does GF usually end up experiencing outages everytime something major in the internet goes wrong? Also yes. But if it takes an individual, and seemingly only one individual, hours to upload simple cuts, that does not sound like a GF issue.
No one is saying there’s no issue…just that odds of GF filtering your specific upload to insanely slow speeds is just either silly or insanely diabolical.
Once loaded, do you have issues manipulating the file?
When you go to print the file, how long does it take to process?
Not one individual, many people were/are affected. Even when it is “working” it can easily take 10 minutes to process a 2 minute cut - and I wasn’t complaining when that was the case. I did not say they were filtering my uploads; you must be new with the way you are talking, or you work for glowforge. This is a trash product that requires use of their trash servers - you are one of two people I’ve seen that defend glowforge. Most people are disgusted at its slow, intermittent performance. I feel foolish to have worked so hard to get it (a glowforge) and wish I hadn’t left those rose colored glasses on for so long. Sounds like yours works perfectly, wanna do my prints for me?
You mean this specifically multi day Microsoft outage?
Again, GF device isn’t perfect, but if most people aren’t complaining most of the time, and you always have terrible service…not sure how you point at GF for that. I can run the gamut of GF foibles too. Non-serviceable laser tube, rescinding the $500 all inclusive tube replacement, no repair capabilities, no offline mode, and I’m sure there’s more but that’s the top of my head. I’m one of the people that it took them 4 tries to get a working one to me.
Appreciate your emotions, but not the emotional lashing out. You show up to a community forum where the company specifically says don’t count on it being involved, this is for customer to help customer, and expect us to do what with your upload issues?
