I am literally cutting a simple window for a dollhouse. I have the drawing on the screen and when it goes to cut - it throws the lines completely off from my drawing. I have even tried cutting it in stages, first window panes, then outside cut, then score. I set focus each time and then bam - it cuts something so completely off from the drawing. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this machine at this point. Wasting so much of my material, which is not cheap! What am I doing wrong?
Welcome to the forum.
I am sorry for your disappointment and frustration. I completely understand how upsetting it is to waste materials.
Could you share a screenshot of your project being cut incorrectly so that someone might offer suggestions for improved outcomes?
Looks like your material isn’t laying completely down on the bed…at least on the left side. You’ve got it resting on that ledge instead of down flat. Your material is too large. If you did this with the project you’re currently working on, I’m guessing that might be part of the problem.
Then what is the point of the pass through openings?
I’ve never used the passthrough, so I can’t answer that. You didn’t say that’s what you were doing. Hopefully, someone who has used that feature can shed some light on it.
I don’t have the Aura, but if your material is not flat your set focus will only be correct at the point you pick. I do have a pro but the passthrough only goes from front to back, and only in a narrow height range
The material is laying flat. On the Aura the white ledge is on the same level as the crumb tray.
I think the problem is that the head is catching on the rails due to accumulated grit/deposits. That causes it to chatter along the rail and lose its location. It cannot be overemphasized that the rails must be kept as clean as possible. Wiping all sides of both rails with an alcohol wipe before or after every run will help ensure this.
You are correct. It sure didn’t look like it was…but now that I look at my own machine…duh!
And this…^^^^ I ran into this firsthand since I had been lazy about not cleaning the rails. It absolutely threw my print out of whack.
Hi there. Newbie with an Aura. My aura did the very same thing when I am cutting long duration projects, with proofgrade material using the passthrough and 12x12 size (basswood). It was totally frustrating because my cut/material was ruin and lots of time and money wasted. Thanks for posting because I was searching for some answers to help me overcome this issue. Please post an update if you pin point what was the cause. Thanks much and happy new year to you and yours.
