Glowforge head moves to start of design then stops

When I start a print, the head moves to the start of the design, the laser fires for a brief moment, then the head stops while the print countdown continues.

The problem sometimes clears when I restart the Glowforge but sometimes it takes several tries.

Any advice?

I don’t have any answers for you, and it’s been 26 days since you posted this, so I don’t know if you are still having this problem, I would try troubleshooting all the different things.

1. First, I would check to see what your power setting is at. Sometimes people accidentally turn the power to zero or a very low number and it doesn’t behave as they expect it to. I don’t know if it would do as you are describing, but it’s a low effort troubleshooting move.
2. Is this happening with one specific design or all designs or some designs?
3. I almost always do testing with a very small simple shape in the dashboard, usually a star (for reasons not important here, so it doesn’t probably matter which shape you try).
4. I would test this out to see if it behaves the same way with designs from various places. Like designs you created, designs you purchased (if you have purchased any) and designs from the catalog, just to see what happens.

Again, these may not be relevant to your problem, but they are pretty easy things try out and don’t cost much. Whenever you DO test and the machine does work, as long as you are using a small shape, you aren’t wasting much material.
