Glowforge no longer making any marks on material

Thanks for working with me on this issue and I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting the issue. After consulting with the team, I’ve determined we can’t fix this outside of a full repair studio where we can fully analyze the issue, repair components, and use our test equipment to recalibrate it. It looks like the warranty has expired, so let’s talk about how we can get you back to creating.

We are in the process of moving our repairs from Mexico to the US right now, so we can recommend Wiregrass, a Glowforge service partner, to repair your machine. You can contact them for information on timing, availability, and pricing.

It sounds pretty straight forward to me.

What is your question?

This community is for fellow users. The machines expire - original expectation was 2 years but most lasted far longer. If your machine is no longer functional, it will need to be replaced or repaired - but I’ve never heard of anyone actually having their own machine repaired/refurbished. They simply swap them out.

At this time, since Glowforge cannot take care of it themselves, they are refering everyone to Wireglass. They do not have refurbs to send back but fix what you send. (see box)

Sounds good. Everything was outsourced from the start anyway.

I would be surprised if the current vendor is actually working on individual machines, one-at-a-time. But I have no knowledge or experience on that.

This one was a refurb $1700 in January 2024, Lasted less than a year. I called Wiregrass but they will not talk to you. You have to put a ticket in and wait your turn before they can even let you know if it can be fixed. Glowforge offered me $1000 off a new HD Pro making it $6000 plus tax.

Since 2019 I have bout 2 Glowforges new and 1 was replaced under warranty and bought 2 refurbs. So I am $13,000 or so invested and only have 1 machine left.

Ouch. That would put you $19,000 in if you take the new offer. If you don’t need the GF GUI/design ecosystem, there are far cheaper and/or better options now.
