Gluing Proof Grade Acrylic & Wood Material

I’ve created a layered project that requires Proofgrade materials together in this order: Bottom layer is basswood, Hardwood Walnut, basswood, acrylic (top layer). Google searches recommend E-6000. Does this work for gluing acrylic to wood and wood to wood? Do I need to use wood glue to glue the woods together. Since the wood is finished do I need to sand? I’m trying to figure out how best to put this together so I can determine how much “production” time this project will take to produce and mail to potential customers.
Thanks in advance!

For wood glue to work, you will need to sand any wood that is already finished. E6000 will work on finished surfaces, however - as well as for dissimilar materials like acrylic to wood. It’s not cheap, but for a single project, that should not be an issue.

The acrylic should not be clear, though, if you are applying it to the rear face. Nothing I am aware of will be invisible when applied.

Acyrlic is purple so no issues with there! Thanks for the info!

For any kind of layered project I use a double sided adhesive instead of glue. I put it on the back of the full sheet of material, masking removed, then cut with the adhesive applied. Then each layer is ready to be stuck to the next right out of the laser.

For indoor applications I use DualTite:

For outdoor, more expensive 3M brand:

Thanks for the info! The layers have been cut but next time, I’ll try adding an adhesive sheet to the material first.

Construction adhesive (“liquid nails”) would also be a reasonable option.

q.v.:

Note that e6000 is a little bit flexible. It probably won’t matter if the surface areas you are attaching are large. It might for smaller pieces, though.
