Greetings from the March 2016 Blizzard... (non-laser)

That’s awesome!! They recruited her straight from college… She graduates in May and moves out to start in June. Ever since she was little she wanted to be an astronaut or work/fly planes. She’s pretty excited! She plans to take the naval water course so she can go fly with the crew as well…Taking off an aircraft carrier was one on her bucket list…lmao

Isn’t it wonderful to watch your children soar!
She will have a very rewarding career. Congratulations on that fledgling!

I was fortunate enough to experience a catapult shot off of Enterprise CVAN65.
About 2 seconds of right around 4 G’s, but it feels like 5 seconds! :airplane::zap:

The carrier deck has CC TV cameras in it, with cross hairs so you can see the aircraft line up for a trap. Every compartment has recovery operations on the TV, and I have heard and felt the thump of an arrested landing enough that I was fine with not experiencing that.
Once carrier qualified, you’re not a pilot anymore - you’re a Naval Aviator.
I never saw a machine that takes the abuse of a carrier bird.

Those flight engineers know their game! You must be very proud!

I am certainly a proud Momma. My son is a Blackhawk mechanic in the Army National Guard as well. :slight_smile: They’ve both been in Civil Air Patrol since they were 12 and both went through Air Force JROTC in High School. And my youngest (12) just started CAP.
Sorry… I’ll get off the bragging box now… :heart_eyes::blush:
