While the Glowforge is cut off, much better to move the head as far back as possible and on the far left side. While all the way back you can align the gantry by making sure both sides are as far back as possible.
I had a problem and found that the gantry was not properly aligned. and fixed it that way. I have also found that if the machine cannot find the head, it runs off to the right and keeps jamming itself trying to go further right.
