Trying to create a cake topper. I cannot get the elements to merge together to form one piece to cut.
I’m using Inkscape. I’ve selected all elements and selected union and put the objects and strokes to path but when I put it in glowforge it comes up as separate pieces and won’t let the image cut.
Please help I need to cut this tonight or tomorrow morning.
Did you get it figured out? If not, share the file and one of the Inkscape folks will help.
Yeah, without seeing it, I can’t understand how being in two “pieces” would prevent something from cutting. It might be two “steps” in the UI but that wouldn’t stop it.
Because she’s trying to cut out a one-piece cake topper. Probably has a base or pick to go on/in the cake and a custom top that’s separate. Likely wants them joined into one object and cut along the outside. Hence her point about trying to Union them in Inkscape. Probably just a path issue. One of those 10 second things if you know but for a newbie, an insurmountable mountain.
@dklgood is right - someone here could fix it in a flash.
I figured it out.
Thank you.
I did figure it out. Just needed to stop panicking, so I could think!
Thank you!
Great,
Inkscape is very powerful, but certainly can drive you nuts, particularly in crunch time.
It would be handy to know what the issue was, and how you solved it, in case someone else runs into the same issue. Many of us who use Inkscape here like to share what we’ve learned…
