Received my new glowforge Pro and there is not a power cord for it. Where do I look for it?? It is on the packing slip but no where to be found. I was wondering if they hide it somewhere and you have to look???
Back in the day performance models like the pro arrived in two different packages. You would have a great big box with the machine in it and some of the extras and then you would have a second box with the crumb tray and some other stuff. I can’t remember where the power cord was. Did you get both boxes yet?
The Glowforge power cable is no different from a normal high quality PC power cord. If you have one handy you should be able just use it no problem. It will look like this:
Aha! It’s supposed to be in there, in the foam. Here are detailed unboxing and setup photos.
I did receive both boxes. I went to the video in the support area and watched how to unbox it. I saw that the cord is supposed to be in the area where the laser head is. there are two open compartments there and one held the laser head and there only had the lens tool. That is where it was supposed to be.
Sounds like somebody screwed up when they packed it. Do you have a computer cable handy from an old PC?
If not and you need to get a new cable you have a few options… the “Right way” Would be to get Glowforge to send you one, the fast way would be to find out that you have one in a box somewhere already, and the third option is to run out to someplace like Walmart or Best Buy, because they’ll have them in stock for cheap.

Reusing an older cable is also more environmentally conscious, so there’s that plus side as well.
I am going to use the one that came with the Aura, until i can get a new one from glowforge.
Thank you for your help, I sent an email to Glowforge, but I don’t expect to hear from them until Tuesday. I am sure I have some old cords here that will work. I was just a little concerned that they would be the right power. I guess they are universal.
Pretty much the only difference there is if it’s 110 or 220 - but as the plug is very different that’s an easy one to catch
my guess is it is the same person who is responsible for putting glue on the lid hinges. keeping GF solvent by saving money on glue and power cords.
Hey did the power cord work out OK? It seemed like you were gonna be just fine but I’m curious.
Yes I got a gift certificate for the replacement and actually had a couple that I can use. So it all worked out.
