Help with engraving pictures

Hi do someone knows how to prepare a picture so i can engrave it whit my GF

Yes, @takitus has a couple of nice tutorials for Photoshop if you are using that. If you are using GIMP or some other program, you might want to check the Matrix for tutorials on how to prepare a bitmap image (raster) for engraving. (Line 10)

Glowforge Training Center - Raster Design

If you want to just use the image as it is, you’ll usually get a pretty good result in the Glowforge if you remove any stray marks from the background and try to increase the contrast. Make it as clean as possible, you’ll get better results.

You’ll want to watch the image size. Really large images can take a while to process and might hang up in the interface.

I 2nd the matrix…

Here there be Dragons

The tutorial in the Matrix for photos in GIMP does some magic. Although my source photo hit some of the “no no’s” for what you should start with, here are the early results. Original: A Xmas shopper - NYPL Digital Collections Left is before the tutorial, right is after. I need to get rid of that bit of glow, but otherwise I’m pretty happy. [IMG_20171012_214754]
