Years ago I was in Huntington Beach California driving along Pacific Coast Hwy. Had just arrived at the airport. Idiots kept stepping right in front of my rental car walking toward the beach. After ten minutes of that I figured out that crosswalks were a thing in So Calif. Had never seen one in my rural corner of the world. I pay a little more attention now. The nearest crosswalk is 20+ miles away at the WV School for the Deaf and Blind.

Yep. That’s exactly why I hate “pedestrians in crosswalks” laws. People seem to think they can just step into the crosswalk and traffic will magically stop. No appreciation for the physics of a 4000 lb moving object.

Is Texas A&M the only place where The Crosswalk Fairy is a Thing? That’s what we used to call it there – people just walk out in front of you because the crosswalk fairy will protect them.
