Homing process taking FOREVER

So, I haven’t used my GF in about 4 months, as we’ve had a very warm summer and I haven’t been out in my workshop (plus the GF doesn’t work in the heat anyway).

I turned it on today to start cutting some things I need for work, and the “Homing the head of the Glowforge” process has been going on for nearly an hour. I tried shutting it off and back on again after the first 45 minutes, and now it is 15 minutes in to the 2nd try, and it is still hanging there.

Anybody have any advice?

There have been a bunch of updates in the last few months, so it may just be those downloading in the background.

Hopefully you just left it on and it’s all fixed by now. Fingers crossed!

Also try cleaning all optics and GF logo on cutting head.

Could you please do the following for me?

  1. Turn off your Glowforge
  2. Using a Zeiss wipe, gently wipe the lens of the wide angle camera on the unit’s lid.

  1. Close the lid and turn your Glowforge back on.

It’s been a little while since I’ve seen any replies on this thread so I’m going to close it. If you still need help with this please either start a new thread or email support@glowforge.com.
