How do i create flowers that cut like this? Am i missing something?

are these cut this way or are they created “3d” after they are cut? i make my own files and am still learning the glowforge. no time and ive had it forever. I am making a sign for my living room and NEED these types of flowers (meaning the curvature and the 3D look to them) on it. I see some places say there are multi cut lines and single cut lines? Is there a good resource you guys know if for all the tricks? Im good at this kinda stuff so the fact im not figuring it out on my own drives me bonkers. Also, materials are too expensive to waste as i learn lol. I appreciate all the help i can get! )

This looks like they cut each piece individually and sanded and painted each piece before matching it back up. The file says laser or scroll saw. I’m guessing if you has the painting skills (I don’t) you could recreate the 3D look with just paint on the flat surface. But I’d think to achieve that look, you’d be sanding or grinding each piece with a dremel after you cut it.

What you are looking for is a variable engrave where the deep parts are black and the black fades to gray makes the curve. If you go with very high LPI (1355) it will be smooth but the machine will take a while and do a lot of work. Otherwise, you can use fine sand paper and you will take a lot of time and do a lot of hard work.

When I make things like this, I use hardwoods and a Dremel to shape all the pieces, it’s not an easy project, but always worth it in the end! I use a fine grade sandpaper to finish it off, then paint and seal.

Yeah, the picture looks like they manually created the 3D variation. But personally, I would make this look with paints, using darker shades to create the 3D look.

That is not how this group rolls :slightly_smiling_face: For many it is a big part of the reason to have a Glowforge.
