How do you lightly engrave on wood

so I am trying to engrave some svg files on wood but its going to deep into the wood. how do I get it to just be on the surface where its not too deep fearing some of the lettering would just bump off but still have that contrast of the darker wood

You can increase speed or decrease power to achieve a lighter engraving.

If you are using the SD setting, that one usually engraves the darkest for me. Try one of the other settings.

If it’s using Vary Power, try Convert to Dots or Convert to Patterns instead.
