One of the advantages I have seen is the improvements in how the improvements of the Glowgorge have changed over time. A really big one is how long the initial startup over how long it takes now.

Quite a difference. The company graced me with a pre-release also. That’s when I defaulted to placing the head under the camera before turning it on. It saved the time of the head search.
The advantages of a connected machine outweigh the cons IMO. First tool I ever had that continued to evolve after I bought it. The Tesla was the second example of that advantage.
