I have a craft show I’m going to in a couple weeks, so I’ve been busy getting some Christmas ornaments and other items done. As I was working on ornaments last night, I realized that one thing I hate is tying ribbons on them! I never like the way they turn out. I love others’ but I can’t seem to make mine as nice. Hoping the people like the ornaments enough they bypass looking at the ribbons!
I do too! I think it takes a special skill that I don’t have!
I’m sure yours look fine though - good luck at the craft show!
You’d better practice. Otherwise, how is Tony Orlando supposed to know whether or not you still want him?
If you’re better with folding than tying, you can make ribbons with glue (and if you’re doing grosgrain you don’t need to worry about the center folding
Have you tried any of the little tools to help make bows? They have some pretty cheap ones. When my daughter was one or so (she already had long hair when she was born, it was pretty crazy lol) I got one of those Bowdabra things to make hair bows for her. (Then she lost all her hair due to chemo, so I didn’t end up using it as much as I planned, I don’t really put big bows on her now. lol I should make her some though, she’d get a kick out of helping me.) Anyway, you can use it for making all types of bows. There are lots of DIY versions of bow makers though. I have never been great at making bows so I’d need some kind of tool like this. lol
It’s the ribbons to hang ornaments that I hate so much.
@jeanneleigh - thanks. We went to this venue last year just to check it out. It’s quite a big one, over two days, and they have security all night to watch over everything. Last year I didn’t see anything like I do, but I know there are other laser users in the area, although they do some different things than I do, mainly because they have other lasers than a GF, so I’m just hoping they also have different designs. I’ll be sure to post how I do.
@tjones - this made me laugh! I so remember when that song first came out (yeah, my age!) and it was always one of my favorites. Tony Orlando and Dawn was one of my favorite groups!
@deirdrebeth - I’m bookmarking this so I’ll remember! Not the kind of bow I want on my ornaments, but will definitely come in handy!
@trually - I actually bought one of the “Make a Bow Like a Pro” kits last year. I think it was something like $59 on Amazon. Have I opened the box yet? Nope! As I get ready for the craft show and find what signs I may be doing (which I’d better get with it - the show is the 20th-21st!), then I’ll use it. That or the gluing method!
Try this technique using a hair pick:
I haven’t tried it yet but I’d trust Mary Corbet’s instructions for absolutely anything.
Oh wow, that turned out perfect!
Thanks! Bookmarked!
