@dan said that is there hope and intention, but not what the schedule says.
The schedule does say they will be shipped in plain English. It doesn’t mention GF use “shipped” to mean an email. I don’t think any of the emailed updates give that impression either. In fact, June’s says things like “The factory is running long shifts assembling, testing, and shipping Glowforge units.” Since the factory don’t send the golden email “shipping” is used in its conventional sense. It is only by reading the forum you find the weasel definition used.
I would bet a high sum that the shipping goal will not be met, not by a long shot. But the fact that the deadline is now less than six weeks away is basically meaningless. All remaining emails could still say “we’ll ship it (like, actually ship it) within six weeks”, even up to the day before the deadline and it wouldn’t matter one bit as long as they actually manage to get them delivered the following day.
I was an “all else being equal day 1” Basic customer in the US and I haven’t got my email yet either. Kinda sucks, kinda doesn’t matter, kinda more fair this way anyway.
No, we’re still working hard to deliver your unit by the end of next month.
