Well, I think I already know the answer to this but I’ll ask anyway. I’ve been having issues with my Glowforge Basic lately. It’s been going through a cycle of errors every time I turn it on. It’s either “camera didn’t take a picture”, stuck on focusing, an another that I can’t remember at the moment. Well, after cleaning and checking all connections, I couldn’t find this issue. I know I checked my printer head when checking everything. However, when I checked again this time, there appears to be a pin missing on the end. UGGGGHHHH!!! I’m attaching a couple of pictures for verification. If I’m correct, can you purchase a spare print head? I see one for the smaller machines on the website but nothing for the larger ones. Any help regarding this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

If I recall correctly they used to sell the print heads for your machine. I believe they were around $600. Have you contacted support?

I just looked in the shop…they carry nothing but the print head for the Aura / Spark.

Glowforge announced that there is a repair facility - although it is not technically Glowforge endorsed. The person there sells printheads and can sometimes replace pins. The facility is Wirgrass Technolgies https://www.wiregrassmade.com/

Yes I looked too. It may be a temporary supply issue or not.

I have emailed Wiregrass twice about power wire and have yet to hear back.

I messaged them yesterday but this doesn’t sound promising.

Couldn’t agree more. I feel the whole “refurbished” option is a scam. They are charging more money now then what I paid but yet the machines seem to have the same problems. My current issue, of course, is unrelated to those issues. However, I do wish they would concentrate on having a “repair” site instead of a replacement option. The only thing wrong with my print head is the missing pin. You should just need to replace the ribbon cable connector and not spend $600 for a print head. It’s just ridiculous.

There is a repair shop. It’s literally listed in the post that @dklgood linked to. If you don’t want a new head you should try reaching out to them.

Yes, I’ve messaged them. Someone else said they have messaged them several times and has yet to hear back, so I guess we’ll see.
