I checked my PG acrylics and different colors are slightly different thicknesses. I’d like to try your suggestion if the materials can be found.
For acrylic, every sheet of the same can be a different thickness, even across a single sheet. A couple of manufacturers of the raw material specify a “maximum variance of 10%, although typically less than 5%”
It is literally poured into molds (cells.)

Glad you liked them.
Many puzzleboxes were/are too hard to fabricate at my skill level. Much less solving them. The ones here are solvable even for old folks.
