iPad Mini Crackling Fireplace

The iPhone stand crackling fireplaces I made for family last year from @pubultrastar’s design were a huge huge hit, but my mom had a little trouble dealing with the small screen size. So this year I made her another to fit her iPad mini, using the stone fireplace design so generously shared by @deirdrebeth in Free Laser Designs.

Although the original design was not intended for an iPad mini stand, it turns out that it is the perfect size and required minimal modification. All I did was cut the front and one of the back pieces that had a semicircle hole in it from 1/4” Draftboard, as well as the long rectangle stand. Then I cut a rectangle of size 8.21” x 0.576” and glued that down at the bottom of the stand between front and back pieces. I also cut a piece of hardwood for a mantle. It holds an iPad mini displaying a YouTube crackling fire perfectly! It just slides into the side. Thanks @deirdrebeth!

Actually I used colored pencils. They work great on Draftboard.

I hadn’t thought of using colored pencils on draftboard. That’s a great idea!
