I have have my glowforge a little over 2 months now and the amount of time I spend trying to get it to work or troubleshooting it is very disappointing… I spent 1200 plus dollars on a machine I cant even use half the time and I am stuck with it because of their return policy. The amount of materals that are ruined is ridiculous, the amount of frustration and tears I have had over this thing is more than I have ever had over any item I have owned. There is ZERO customer support and every time I try to get help I get the same responses from what seems like an automated response system. I am very disappointed that someone would charge this much for a machine and hype it up just to find out it barely works, and to top it all off here I am paying 50 dollars a month for the membership and having to replace materals over and over again.
Its has nothing to do with it being dirty since I deep clean it every time I use it… I have orders that I have to get out and I am losing money everyday because this thing wont work! I am so upset I cant even begin to explain it. I was so excited and thought it was just bumps and figuring it out but it seems like I have to fix or trouble shoot it after every use… Literally over it!
It is very hard to suggest a specific fix without specific information. I have had a pro for some years now and can look back to most problems as my lack of information. Many that were a machine issue are now gone. The Aura has benefitted about those issues but due to the diode vs CO2 changes new things have cropped up. They can also be fixed due to the cloud processing without you even knowing.
For all the automation the job that is done is just as tricky as any cheap diode laser but with that automation. Still it is not a toaster and not knowing a simple thing looks like a mountain until you know that thing and the problem vanishes.
You can move your post to the support section for specific help from other owners or you can call 1 (855) 338- 2122 during normal business hours in Seattle and get specific help. In any case the more specific you can be and with photos the easier it would be for anyone to help. Also part of the higher price of PG wood is the gaurantee that if you ruin it they can replace it.
If you could provide us with more detailed information, we might be able to help you more. There are an incredible group of folks in here with vast knowledge of lots of stuff.
Without seeing any photos or reading any specifics, my first suggestion would be to try a project first using something like cardboard that won’t be an expensive loss in material.
I have an Aura…and have never yet had any issues…so it’s not a wide-spread problem. If you have orders to fill, you must have been able at some time to produce some things.
Please take heart and give us more information so that we might be able to help you get up and running again.
After spending 3 days going back and forth with glowforge it all comes down to the filter… We had to unhook the filter and it works fine, mind you this machine and filter have only been with me 2 months! We are working on getting a reimbursement for the filter as that seems to not work as they said it would and I cant use it.
For the edification of other Aura users, can you specify what problems you were having, and how you figured out it was the filter? A large part of the use of the forum is this kind of information for the next person to come along
Glowforge employees figured out it was the filter. The laser wasn’t cutting, air assist fan issues even when it was spotless, the print stop before it started issues.
