Many years ago, I made a Lord of the Rings cribbage board, which is no longer in my collection, so I decided to make a new one. Multiple layers with clear acrylic for the top layer engraved with elvish. A laser-engraved map of Middle Earth on walnut separated by standoffs. Compartment built in back to store pegs. Oh, and of course it lights up. An LED standoff in the middle illuminates the clear acrylic blue when orcs are near. If I were to redo it, I would have used 9 standoffs versus the 12, to represent the fellowship. I thought of that after the fact. The back is engraved with Durin’s door, and the board sits on rubber feet. I’m sure there are some nerds here that will appreciate this.
Thanks so much for the write up and photos. This is really fantastic!
As a fellow LRF nerd, I heartily approve!
(P.S. Also an LotR nerd.)
WOW,nice!!
Love it!
Wooooow
…and One Board to rule them all. Awesome build, sir.
As usual, totally stunning. What have you set up to look for that will turn the blue light on?
That is gorgeous.
Stunning! A game and a piece of art! Another wonderful piece!
This is brilliant! Thank you for sharing your latest invention!
(And especially for not retiring from here!)
There and back again.
Wow, that is so impressive! Do you sign your work? It is a work of art and engineering.
Nothing special, just a light switch. If the room is dark, the board looks good lit up. It would be cool if something was automated, but cribbage isn’t all that exciting
Rarely, but sometimes someone asks me to. Most of the stuff I make is oddly shaped, and not not always a good spot to mark it up. And most of the stuff is just sitting in my house, so no reason to sign it I suppose.
Wow you always do amazing work.
Stunning
This is so, so cool! Thank you for sharing.
Love it!!
Wow! What an impressive and amazing project!!
This masterpiece shall not pass without praise!
Quite lovely!
