Hello!!! Hope everyone is well. LASER NOT FIRING - First time on here but been with my GF Pro for just over a year and no issues but…now. After trying to get a hold of support all day, finally chatted with them and cleaned the lenses, unplugged / in some white cables and still nothing. I was cutting about 40 letters last night in in the middle it kept moving but no laser. Support emailed me after 5 mins and said that they could not help and I would have to send it to somewhere for repair. Doesn’t make sense. i baby this thing and it’s brand new clean, has been fine. They said they are “moving” their workshop facility and can’t help. The email even asked me to trade it in adn get a newer one. Yeah, after $7k last year, that’s what I want to do. Any ideas on why it stopped firing?? - Thanks in advance!
Print the gift of good measure. If the tube is not flickering then it’s most likely a failed power supply, the cables you have access to have nothing to do with that. The unit will need to be replaced.
It has been normal when a machine cannot be repaired by the owner to send it in to exchange for one that is repaired, for the price of shipping and the repair. I have done this twice, one covered under warranty at no cost to me, and the next a bit over $1k. The last machine has lasted several years.
As they do not currently have a repair facility up and running the trade in for new (not refurb) depending on the price sounds like a better deal than only sellling a new and letting you deal with the old one.
Appreciate the feedback from the above. Bottom line, I can’t change it myself. I have to send it back to the third party for them to replace the power supply? I certainly hope they wouldn’t send me a refurbished unit as mine is actually pristine condition. From the photos of others machines, I clearly take care more effectively. Just absurd after just one year, this is what goes. 1k sounds better than 40% off a new one.
The two refurbs I received were indistinguishable from new except that there were changes from the very first ones, that my refurbs did not have those changes.
I have no idea if my replacement was actually previously used or not, it was spotless and has performed flawlessly for over a year now. It was diiferent to the one I sent back, the exhaust grill and lid design had changed.
Thanks gents…i guess it’s unanimous. have to send it back to the 3rd party (which is WIREGRASS Tech) currently by the way…Alabama. I’ll post how this goes later. Yay.
I have had my Glowforge Basic since 2020, and it is a refurbished printer. The only issue I’ve encountered was a frayed belt, which was installed fairly quickly. Hopefully, Wiregrass can help repair it for you quickly.
