Led acrylic business cards

I am getting ready to engrave some acrylic led business cards and was wondering if anyone else has and could give me a starting point on setting. they are 0.10 in thickness. Thanks.

A few simple tests should be sufficient for success. I assume you don’t need a deep engrave, so I suggest using one of the eco thin acrylic proofgrade settings as a starting point. If the result is too deep, reduce the power or increase the speed. If the test engrave is too shallow, increase power. The lpi you settle on will be dependent on your design. Small text will probably require fewer lpi than large graphics.

What you are doing is not very different than folks making led nighlights or signs. Look through the forum for examples of good results and consider adopting the same settings/methods. If you achieve a good outcome, I hope you will share photos and your experience here.

Thanks. I used medium acrylic and have a lot of shadowing, dust looking stuff around the letters. I lowered the power to 60 and it looks worse.

Did you use draft graphic, sd graphic or hd graphic. Can you share a photo?

SD graphic. I used acrylic cleaner but it didn’t take away the foogyness so I used rubbing alcohol and the look good now.

I’m glad they look ok. Rubbing alcohol and acrylic don’t necessarily go together. Below is from a Google search - “rubbing alcohol on acrylic”

I see that but I was desperate. Thanks.

Used sd graphic and 270 lpi.Medium clear acrylic setting,

A lot of people have success with smearing the acrylic with dish soap before engraving. Then when you are done, just rinse it off and there is no fogging.

Thanks. Will have to try.

Acrylic sheet is a mix of polymers, effectively a “cured glue” - so any solvent can upset the composition. The best acrylic adhesive actually breaks it down so the bonded parts are effectively one.

That said, alcohol is a very mild solvent and I too have been able to use it without harming certain acrylic sheets.
