Lens Fail: Burnt O-Ring; Not Cutting Through Material

Gacked Lens Housing:

I set up my Glowforge according to the directions in the owner’s manual.

I successfully cut two Gift of Good Measure (Glowforge - the 3D laser printer) files.

Then I tried to cut a custom file based on the Print a Gift Tag (https://glowforge.com/support/topic/first-three-prints/3rd-print-gift-tag). Unsuccessful.

So I tried cleaning the lens as suggested here: HELP! Not cutting all the way through gifts!

I followed the directions for cleaning and wiping: https://glowforge.com/support/topic/cleaning-service-and-moving/cleaning#things-that-need-wiping

I found the lens was gacked.

And even after I wiped with the lens cleaner, I still saw an occlusion in the lens.

I re-ran a file

It did not cut through the proofgrade medium density board

I checked lens housing and found something right snorked:

Unplugged Glowforge and stowed away.

That was a beautiful description of the problem. (Support’s gonna need to step in, obviously. Just wanted to express admiration for your technique.) :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks.

I hope it is useful for others trying to troubleshoot.

I see you already emailed us about this and we’re working on it there, so I’m going to close this topic.
