I am not sure how this happened, perhaps the glue came undone from my lid. But when I was opening my Glowforge tonight, the lid that has two cables fell off onto the floor. There doesn’t appear to be any damage to the lid, but I have no idea where to plug in the little cables. It can physically fit back into the proper slot, but it’s giving me an “Lid Open” error without plugging in the cables. Can anyone assist? Photos attached, thank you!

Thanks for sharing this resource! So, I see that Jay did the soldering of the wires in order to get it fixed. However, I have no soldering experience, so should I attempt to do this myself? If so, what materials do I need to buy? I assume no one has a step-by-step guide with visuals on the soldering? I saw the comment that Jay made, but to be honest, it’s not registering as far as how to actually translate that into me doing it. Thanks so much for your help!
Thank you, @evansd2! I read through the threads that I could find, and I saw one photo of the soldered points. But I’m a bit lost on how to actually do that without any soldering experience. I can definitely manage the glueing of the lid back to the glass with the recommended glue, but I’m unsure how to do the wire part for the “Lid Open” error. Appreciate your help.
Just to be clear, did the wires break free at the connectors or a short distance away?
Either way, soldering them back together will be a challenge if you’ve never soldered electronics. It’s not hard, just a new skill to learn.
At a minimum, you’d need a soldering pen with a small/fine tip and lead-free rosin-core solder. If splicing broken wires, you’ll need heat shrink tubing or tape. Practice on equivalent gauge wire until you’re confident that you can attempt the actual repair. YouTube has many good tutorials.
