Looking for a fun Dolphin project for this afternoon with ny neice

Hey, can someone search the forums and google for me.

Seriously though, Do you all have any good recommendations of a project for me and my niece she is 10. She LOVES Dolphins. Almost to the point of obsession. I mean who can blame her?

I searched the catalog, forums, and a quick search on Google. Not sure what I am looking for so much, perhaps something like. Jumping Dolphin

We only have an hour or so. I was thinking if you all could point me to a good place to buy some laser files or had one you would recommend, I don’t think I have time to design fully from scratch today.

Off to Etsy to search there but looking forward to any insights you could share.

Are her ears pierced? I think I have an earring pattern that I made for my sister.

Otherwise, try this pattern. I used it as a Christmas ornament. If I remember correctly it was pretty fragile. Maybe you can repurpose it somehow.

That’s a nice design. Looks like it should hold together if it was cut out of plywood and not made super small. Niece could have a school of dolphins, different sizes and colors… Maybe get some acrylic craft paint.

Maybe too late but hit the noun project for “dolphin” and pick ten or 15 different dolphins.

Make 2x of each as a round token and then you have dolphin concentration. Easy as can be!

If you have Premium, Magic Canvas can work, but I have tried and not tried long enough.

Thanks all. Great suggestions. She ended up picking the dolphin snowglobe from the catalog.

But @evansd2 your idea was a close second!

And @bwente she loved your image

But in the end making a minor change to the engraving so her name could be added won the day.

She loved getting to pick the font

Easily improved by bridging the switchbacks and blending them well.

I had always wanted to give fusion 360 slicer a try, so I gave it a go for 2.8mm thickness wood (then 3 mm), it looks like there are some floating bits which won’t be a part of the final design.
dolphin.pdf (305.9 KB) 2.8mm thickness

I watched this video

(I haven’t tried the cut! and it might be a fail!)

59 parts!
