How did you get it to produce a picture of your dog?

It wasn’t of my dog, rather I asked it to produce a “miniature ShiTzu” It came up with an image which I cropped. It does look like my puppy however.

I made these for two of my kids for valentines day. They are leather journals with the magic canvas print on the front and a quote on the back.

@nicoletilford my son is named Tristan also! Not many with that name. Beautiful job!

I had so much fun making my first Magic Canvas valentine wall art! I used watercolors to brighten the design and add a special touch.

I got two hugs for my valentine gift!

Looks like unmasked MDF/draftboard? (or maybe masked draftboard and you hadn’t removed the masking yet) Did you seal it first? Curious about how water interacts with MDF, seems like it would swell like a sponge?

Masked Draftboard! I seal with Shellac when I’m done. This image was before sealing. I use a combination of Windsor Newton Watercolor Markers, a very good watercolor pan set, and sometimes add additional marks with a fine tip marker when all is dry. The proofgrade masking does very well with water and I use a very light touch.

Very cool process you have there. I’ve never used watercolors.

I wonder how it would go if you painted draftboard/MDF white, then masked, then engraved, then unmasked (exposing the white paint) and then watercolored? Seems like you’d get cleaner, brighter colors without any of the laser residue to muddy anything up?

It seems like a bunch more work for something like a contest submission, but maybe worth it for something more permanent?

You could alternately glue watercolor paper to the draftboard, then mask that and do the same procedure. So many possibilities!

Some interesting ideas! If I get the time, I’ll give it a try and post it. For the items I’ve been making this way, leaving the ‘dirty’ mask on, enhances the design by adding an almost antique look once it is painted. I can see though how having a clean canvas to paint onto the printed wood could also make intricate designs, or a more graphic design, a better product. Thanks for the feedback!

Oh thank you for asking this. I thought I was losing my mind, can’t find it anywhere!

I engraved another generated image over some laser safe gold/bronze mottled foil :star2:

My goal is to arrive at designs that can be cut out like a stencil add some Mulberry paper and make a nice lamp or wall decoration with a light behind it. This tiger is 8x8 inches in PG medium walnut and as one can see some of the lines are very thin but the paper adds some strength. The original plan to melt Cling-Wrap to seal the paper does not work at the highest temps my iron goes so I had to work out a way to spread wood glue extremely thin everywhere and get the paper ironed down before the glue dried. One of the things I like most about the AI is that it is not precise so though the tiger is symmetrical it is not precisely symmetrical.
